Reading Notes: Ramayana, Sita Sings the Blues, Part B

  • -         Sita breaks the news to Rama that she is pregnant
  • -         There were suspicious that she wasn’t pregnant with Rama’s child, and Rama                       heard them and being to be suspicious
  • -         The laundromat said that he is not like Rama who will take back his wife after her               being in another man’s house  
  • -         The laundromat kicked his wife out of his life for being with another man
  • -         Seeing this Rama decided to also take Sita out of his life
  • -         Lakshmana tells Sita to get ready for a trip
  • -         Rama tells Lakshmana to send her away to the forests
  • -         To be a king he must send Sita away to be like the common man
  • -         Rama must have had doubts that Sita was impure
  • -         Sita is sent to the forest while she is pregnant
  • -         She suspects that it must be her karma from a past life that she has been given                    such a punishment
  • -         Sita wonders if she even deserves this treatment by Rama
  • -         While in the forest she meets Valmiki, who supports her and guides her
  • -         Sita gives birth to twin boys – Luv and Kush
  • -         Valmiki teaches the twins Luv and Kush songs that praise Rama
  • -         Luv and Kush sang in the forest with Valmiki
  • -         Sita kept doing pooja everyday even though Rama sent her away
  • -         Yet Sita keeps praying for him because of her undying, unconditional love for him
  • -         Rama heard Luv and Kush singing in the forest and asked his two sons to come to              Ayodhya with him to rule for eterntiy with their father (Rama)
  • -         Sita also asked to come back and Rama told her to prove her purity
  • -         Sita proves her innocence as mother earth takes her back into her womb
  • -         Sita leaves Rama while she remembers all her moments with Rama
